About Us

ShoeString Community Players was founded as a 501(c)(3) corporation in 1982 by a core group of theater enthusiasts from the Columbia County area. SSCP is run completely by volunteers and financially supported through ticket sales, community sponsorships and memberships.

Currently, the largest production is the annual summer musical, typically consisting of cast and crew of 100 or more people. However, SSCP strives to present a variety of smaller-scale productions throughout the year.

The heart of SSCP is its volunteers. From painting or simple cleaning to on-stage and behind-the-scenes roles, we welcome all types of participants. If you have ever thought about getting involved or have ideas for productions, please drop us a note and let us know of your interest. We look forward to hearing from you!
