For Immediate Release, ShoeString Community Players, Columbia County, Oregon—
For a fun night out the ShoeString Community Players present The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) a play written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield that parodies the plays of William Shakespeare with all of them being performed by only three actors. The fourth wall is nonexistent in the performance with the actors speaking directly to the audience during much of the play, and some scenes involve audience participation.
ShoeString Community Players is dedicating these performances as a direct benefit for the Rainier High School DRAMA program. The DRAMA department needs equipment to be replaced and modernized for the ongoing needs and continuing future productions. This fundraiser is great way to be entertained and help the DRAMA students out.
The complete works of William Shakespeare — 37 plays — are performed here by ShoeString Community Players in only 90 minutes. Why truncate some of the greatest drama in history? Because life is short and the complete works of The Bard are long. The play contains many humorous footnotes on the script that are often not included in the full performances. As a result, each performance can be vastly different from another, even with the same cast. No two shows are alike. Cast: Anthony Ditto, Joey Baker, Sarah Carmen and directed by Shannon Vaerewyck

The ShoeString Community Players has been producing plays and other performances in Columbia County for over 30 years. Formed from a dedicated group of “Reader’s Theater” performers, SSCP was officially founded in 1982. The first production was Brigadoon, performed at the St. Helens High School Olmscheid Auditorium. SSCP has consistently produced productions and performances since that time, tapping into the rich and “undiscovered” talent Columbia County and its surrounding areas have to offer. We perform Revues, Musicals, Dramas, Comedies, Children’s Theater, and any other type of production that captures the attention of the community. In fact SSCP is recognized in the Cultural Inventory of St. Helens in the Columbia County Cultural Coalition Summary. ShoeString was also recently recognized by the National Endowment of the Arts for it participation in the “Big Read” with its performance of “The Persian” a Sam Spade radio play. We have been a long-standing, well-respected community group. SSCP is a fully non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, relying on volunteers for every aspect of our operation. Our mission is to support theater and arts through successful productions and participation of the community.
